Happy New Year

I hardly dare say the word “Normal” but I think that is what I’m starting to feel and boy does it ever feel good! So 2005 has arrived and without us giving it “too” much fanfare. Just two other couples visited and actually stuck around till midnight. Of course "football" was the main feature by all three guys and one girl. However the non-football friend asked if I'd re-teach her how to knit. Without giving her a chance to change her mind I instantly had needles and yarn in her hands. She only put them down while we played cards (S... On Your Neighbor, yes we only play the really interllectural games ;) but she instantly picked them up again afterwards and knitted till midnight. I do believe I have her hooked!

Since Christmas I’ve managed to clear up a couple of UFO’s. The grey “Civil War” shawl that I’ll be wearing this coming weekend at Deleon Springs where I’ll again demo’ spinning. Also finished is another Poncho that is a late gift for my SIL.

With two finished it was only right that I be able to start a new project. This particular one will be help support my habit. This is one of two baby blankets I’ve been commissioned to knit. So obviously these will have a big "Priority" sticker on them.

The pattern is quite easy but the finishing requires a "French Knot" to be sewn in the center of each cable (between the twists). I'm not looking forward to doing that, especially as I need to alternate colors of blue and green.

Still on the subject of knitting:
The hubby of a friend brought this article (from the Dec’ 2004 issue of “Time” magazine, pg 109) to my attention. It’s by Lev Grossman and it discusses the power of the “blogger”. The title “Blogs have their day” talked of the dethroning of Dan Rather, which was brought about by “bloggers”. Although it was a very interesting read, it was the following sentence that had me really laughing, I just never expected to read this…
“Some blogs are diaries, some focus on highly specific topics, like knitting, car repair or sex.”
It wasn’t just the mention of knitting in this article that got me going, but the fact that the male author listed it before “car repair and sex”.

Wishing you a million giggles this year and only tears of joy.
