So the long day went like this:
On the road shortly after 7am. Met Carolyn for coffee before the meeting and exchanged gifts...boy did I make out. I received a much coveted drop spindle made by Donna's hubby along with some beautiful tussah silk. The color reminds me of the ice flows in Alaska.
Thank you Carolyn....you sure know how to spoil me.
I've been using CD spindles and knew it drove my "sweet surragate little sister" crazy. From now on I promise I'll only use the CD ones when demonstrating at the Pioneer Settlement. I like to show how spinners use(d) readily "available" materials.
Then to the meeting...not many members attended this time.
Christmas taking a toll on time and energy of everone I'm sure. The highlight was seeing Pattie finally finish her nephew's scarf. He's only been waiting two years for it so finally it'll make it into his stocking.
Sorry that the pic's don't do the scarf or you justice Patti but I had to share your big moment.
Later, after lunch and a trip to the "World Market" to see if they carried "Spotted Dick" ....needed to prove to Carolyn that such a "desert" really existed, they had it and so my credibility was restored.
If you should make it or run across it...it should be served with "Bird's Custard". If you find one you'll find the other. For the curious, this umm...centuries old delicacy, is named for the raisins or currents (the spots) that are cooked in dough (dick).
To continue....
Four hours later we arrive at the home of our oldest son near Tallahassee and are immediately surrounded by cats galore and three grand children (so glad I don't have to feed them all). We celebrated a mini-Christmas, hiding the "Santa" gifts for the real day of course.
The over abundance of good company and lots of love left me exhausted but hubby still had plenty of energy to drive the 250 miles home...arriving at 2am where I was rudely woken up just so that I could go to bed.
