Fun days...Two at DH's family farm in OK on the way west and two more on the return trip east.
Three days in Bullhead City AZ with DS Harvey.
Five days with DD Dawn and DSIL Tim in Mesa AZ over Thanksgiving. And not forgetting the fun of seeing our friends Dan & Rosie, and Dick and Marietta.
Grand total Twelve days.
Add to that Nine full days of driving and sight-seeing for 4,500+ miles.
Whew...wears me out just thinking about it all.
First the Knit news: The Green/Blue shawl was finished for DD and sorry no pic's...didn't think to take one...duh! But it did look lovely on her.
Also no pic's of a coat for Sunny her Yorkie, (purple with eyelash collar...no I didn't choose the yarn. That choice was made by Dawn and Syd). I'm told that Sunny is catching a lot of attention...no kidding! I really must make the poor thing a "real" coat very soon.
DGD Sydney was thrilled with her Poncho and wore it a lot. No one told me that she had grown so much in the last few months since I'd seen her. She is just twelve for heavens sake...but almost my height of 5'6". As you can see she'll soon need some extra rows added.
This is Syd and DH Bill, standing on London Bridge in Havasu City AZ
Warning....
Casual visitor's now may prefer to skip the rest of this post as it's holds little fiber content.
I'll be back to the Fiber Fun very soon so don't be gone too long.
For those that stick around for the main event and don't have DSL....make your favorite drink and a snack....the pictures will take time to load and if your server is misbehaving then you may need to "refresh" the page to see them all.
Now where was I? Oh yes....
....another pic' showing the fabulous view up the Colorado River.
Bullhead City is most famous for the Colorado River and the Casino's that line the Nevada side but I thought I'd show you the upstream side of Davis Dam...beautiful Lake Mojave. Yes, it is that color as is the sky. Syd is checking it all out with her wild, crazy and so lovable Uncle Harvey.
And just to prove I was there...Syd snapped Bill, myself and son Harvey while up the mountains near Laughlin NV while checking out the petriglyphs and awesome rocks.
It does rain in the desert and here is proof. The day before Thanksgiving we are in Mesa with our DD and SIL show us their new (third in about six years) home site. It has a fabulous view of the Superstition Mnt's...it'll be 4 more months before they move in...with luck and little rain.
My lovely daughter Dawn will likely murder me for this....but the tongue made me post it. This is just the second time in her life she has succumbed to the knitting needles. I'm proud to say she did finish a very nicely done dish cloth...I do hope she gets the knitting bug.
If you have been to Arizona and never taken the drive through the Salt River Canyon then you have missed the best drive of all. Mile after mile of totally awesome scenery with plenty of pull outs to park and almost deserted. The Grand Canyon is of course a "must see" but doesn't hold a candle to the enjoyability of this area SW of Show Low.
Annnnd....back on the farm.
Sydney had two days of riding "Buck" the gentle one eyed horse.
Thanks to all our family and friends for making this trip a very special time, especially Sydney who is always a joy to be around. We love you all.
