St. Augustine Fab' Fiber day.

The glow of last weekends fun and fiber in St. Augustine is still with me. I may never be the same again. Carolyn left cold, wet GA and spent three days here in what was and still is cold but no longer wet, FL. But that didn't stop us from having a great time, despite Friday's dismal dyeing effort...sad story is this.... We broke the cardinal rule "first do a burn test to check the fiber content". Believing the "baby poo" colored fiber that I desperately wanted to over-dye to be pure wool we spent great time and effort fingerpainting, only to watch the dye literally slide off after steaming. Puzzled looks and scratching heads still didn't inspire us to question the "wool". It wasn't until Sunday that the obvious dawned on me.....burn test proved it to be 100% UNnatural wool. The "wool" had originated in Equador where they have some very convincing fake sheep. It now resides somewhere in Putnam County's land-fill.

Saturday was our day at the "Rose House" inside St. Augustine's "Old Village" museum, consisting of several buildings and courtyards. Had it not rained all day we would have enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the courtyards but we really didn't mind spending the day in the "Rose House" with a dozen or more other spinner's. We knew most of them from other such "spin-ins" and the six hours or so that we were there passed all too quickly.

Carolyn a.k.a. Dear Wooly has been spinning some marvelous and incredibly fine singles and to follow her lead I chose to use the gorgeous aqua silk she had given me for Christmas.

Don't know if you noticed this but we both spin "left" handed and neither of us are! Is this common? Or is this another quirk of our kinship.

Knitting news:
I've almost completed the knitting part of the new bag (see previous post). Hoping to get it ready for felting today but may get a little sidetracked as my dear friends Carl and Glenda are coming to dinner (they are going back to Berea, KY tomorrow >>>sniff<<<. I hope to see them again in July as that is where the "NoSO Knit-In" will again take place. (I'll post more about this event as I get this years info)

Stay tuned as I'm going to make a deadline for finishing my level two of the Master Knit Program. The only way I'll get it done is if I make it public and get plenty of nagging.
