Then, as if my idea's weren't enough to deal with my best fiber friend Diana Glasspool, back in "Merry Ol' England" has again impressed me with her "sharp" needlework. She is very well known in Bobbin Lace circles and a highly sought after teacher at their conventions, not counting the many "BobbinAlong" tours she hosted. Diana and I go back to the late 60's and early 70's but have stayed in touch and visited since. Back then we had a fun(ky) little business called the "Whirly Birds" (not helicopters). We made and sold "Mary Quant" knockoff's in childrens sizes. Yes we are now grandparents but us Whirly Birds still fly.
In a recent email Diana mentioned that she had just finished another "Montmellick" piece. You may know what that is but I certainly didn't. So here's her pic of what this "White on White" needlework looks like.
If you are in NE Florida this Saturday, you can catch me in St Augustine.
St Augustine FL. is having it's Colonial Textile Fair. For those living close by...it will be held in the Spanish Quarter. So I'm going to play "dress-up" and join Rhonda (fiber artist extraordinaire) at her booth and maybe sell a book or two and who knows perhaps a shawl. Sure would help to support my "habit".
